Love Liberty and Justice in the Soul is an ace in the hole!!!
Bio
Bill began a musical journey at the age of six studying piano. Samuel Robinson, the jr. high school's band director saw something unique and introduced him to the clarinet. Within months Bill began performing with the jr. high band as a fourth grader. During that time he found himself preferring the lower brass family (baritone horn, trombone and tuba), making All District and All State Bands, also earning Superior Honors as a soloist. Growing up in the Pentecostal Church he and his "brother" Jerome Owens added guitar to their instrumental arsenals with Bill choosing the bass guitar and bass violin. While in high school they worked as professional musicians playing supper clubs and venues throughout the southeastern U.S. with AL Downing and the Mellow Tones. Once a week he had classical music lessons and studies with the retired principal bassist of the Cleveland Symphony, which lead to a chair in the local symphony. Continuing his music studies, he received a B.A degree and served in the U.S. Army Band. Upon discharge from the Army, he took a short term position as a high school band director, leaving to take to the road as a bandleader/sideman for recording artists in both R&B and Jazz genres. On to form The Bill Bellamy Band of Boston which became a destination for many well known artists and performers who spent time in Boston's academic and music community during the seventies and very early eighties. After encountering music industry and personal issues, Bill decided to stop performing and traveling to stay close to home and three very young sons. So here they are once again, music and Bill, giving it another try: to finish what they began before this journey ends.
Come along and see where it takes us, my friends.
